Black Beauty (100 Copy Limited Edition)

Black Beauty (100 Copy Limited Edition)

By Anna Sewell

The story about Black Beauty had been started when he was just a foal. He was described as a horse with black coat, along with the black mane. But once when he got older, he got sold to many different hands (people who works with horses) such like; Squire and Lady Gordon, Miss W--, Miss Anna, etc. Beauty also friends with other horses; Merrylegs, Ginger, and Captain. Even though this book is fictional but the way the author, Anna Sewell wrote about Black Beauty has just felt so real. I had really enjoyed this book and this book would be perfect for any horses-lovers. - Happy Reading!

The Tale of Despereaux: Being the Story of a Mouse, a Princess, Some Soup, and a Spool of Thread

The Tale of Despereaux: Being the Story of a Mouse, a Princess, Some Soup, and a Spool of Thread

By Kate DiCamillo

The Tale Of Despereaux is a very heart warming story of a mouse who is not liked by others and is different from a mouse in many ways. When Despereaux continues to not help his brothers and sisters find food and does not do what is is supposed to do, the mouse community decides to put him into the dungeon. When he is put into the dungeon, Despereaux does everything to get out of it. This is also the story of a Princess. I love this book!

By Eileen Spinelli (Editor), Joanna Cotler (Editor) by Jerry Spinelli

Dear readers, I know this looks like a long review, but please read it. This year, after summer, our English teacher showed us a book he liked. It was called Loser. He explained what the book was about but I didn't understand it. Because you can read better than explain, right? A month later he gave us an assignment. We had to read Loser and answer questions. Sometimes we read it out loud or on our own. In chapters 1, 2, and 3, I didn't understand it and it seemed boring. (If you're going to read the book, don't skip any chapters.) Then on every page, it got more interesting. I kept reading it and I finally finished it. This book is about a boy named Zinkoff (Donald Zinkoff), who's in first grade. On his very first day, he was very excited to go. He brought his favorite giraffe hat to school. The teacher tells him there are 2160 days of his life in school left. Zinkoff was happy. In his journey through his life, Zinkoff had many things happen to him. Like being left out. He's much different than other kids. He believes in many things you probably never thought of. But he never really lets anything bother him. Days pass, months, years. The end of fifth grade comes, and he's very sad. He will miss everything because he's going to middle school. And somehow, a loser became a hero. I never really had a favorite book, but this book deserves it. Trust me, it's much better than it seems. I'm in sixth grade and I recommend this book for grades 5-8. I hope you read it. You will laugh and you will cry. I hope you enjoy it.

The Diary of a Young Girl. Anne Frank

The Diary of a Young Girl. Anne Frank

By Anne Frank

This book is so meaningful. It's down to earth, but at the same time, I can't imagine anything that Anne went through happening to me. Anne is a real girl during the Holocaust. She lived a regular life, and then WWII started up. Her family and several others were forced into hiding to avoid concentration camps, commonly known as Nazi death camps. Hitler was insane and prejudiced against Jews. He felt that their religion was an excuse to treat them horribly. Anne's and several other families hid in a storehouse, which was owned by a friend of their's who was not a Jew. As Anne pours her heart out to her diary, which she calls Kitty, we can feel the weight of thousands of people on our shoulders. We weep for those who were lost in WWII and those who lost loved ones. Anne go's through her teenage years hidden away, years she should have been able to spend with friends. Hitler started a war, and then, after generations of lives were lost, he killed himself. This book would be a hard subject for kids under 4th grade to read. Thank you.

Anne of Avonlea (Second Book in the Anne of Green Gables Series.)

Anne of Avonlea (Second Book in the Anne of Green Gables Series.)

By L M Montgomery

This book... This book is such a beloved classic for such good reason. It was so full of imagery and brilliant plot that I was sad to reach the end. One thing I will say though, is that Avonlea seems just a little too perfect. Aside from the one disaster and some minor scrapes, everything happens so that life flows idylly. Other than that, the book was written splendidly with lots of care. Even though this book is suitable for readers of all ages, there are many profound quotes and little gems that may not be picked up by a younger crowd. It just refreshes and makes me happy every time I read an "Anne of" book because they're so wholesome and gracefully written. The author, L.M. Montgomery is a literary genius. I can't wait to follow Anne along on her journey.

I give this books five stars. I really love this books because it is about a kid nameed Marty and he is trying to protect a dog named Shiloh from his neighbor named Judd Travers and is trying to make Shiloh his. There are also some sad parts to like when the giant German Shepard was attacking Shiloh and they didn't know if Shiloh was going to live or not and there are happy parts to like when they heard thet Shiloh was alive so this book is very very awesome and really really heart warming so you should read it.

Because Of Winn-Dixie

Because Of Winn-Dixie

By Kate DiCamillo

I thought this book was good but not usually the type of book I would read. It has good storytelling but doesn't have a lot of action scenes. When I was reading it I felt bored sometimes because nothing excited was happening in that part. I liked this book because it always had questions running wild in my head. It is a book about a girl named Opal that just moved to a new town with her father. She feels very alone because she has no friends and her father is spending to much time on his job and not enough on her. Then she encounters a dog named Winn-Dixie and he changes her life. One of the things I most disliked about this book is I felt it took too long to get the climax and that the climax was really the only part with a lot of action and was exciting. The book itself is more intriguing than excited. One of the things I liked most about the book was how it always made me guess if something were to happen next or what was happing with a character that made him/her the way they are. I also liked how they kept teasing the return of a certain character and the result of the tease. All things considered, I would say the good thing outweighs the bad and it wasn't perfect so I think a 4-star rating if fair.

The Outsiders (M Books)

The Outsiders (M Books)

By S.E. Hinton

"Stay gold..." I read this when I was younger, but I never really understood it... due to the fact I read this book when I was in third grade, and I was too young to realize what it actually meant... I read this book earlier again during the summer... and wow... this book is really heartwarming... the book's setting is around the late 1960's and it starts off with the Socs short for Socials and the Greasers who are usually proud of their long mane while they grease it back... Meet Ponyboy Curtis, the protagonist of the story, yes... his name is actually Ponyboy and yes, you can check his birth certificate... and his two brothers' names are Darry who's twenty years old who support the gang and was a quarterback in his high school and his second oldest brother Sodapop, who is loved by the girls, is in a relationship with Sandy, and is a high school drop out, but works in an auto shop... (Don't you love how Ponyboy and Sodapop are very original names??? :D) Ponyboy's parents passed away in an auto accident, and they lived together with the gang ever since... Two-Bit is the oldest who is sarcastic, funny, but wise... then there's Steve who Ponyboys thinks that Steve does not like him and is Sodapop's best friend, also there's Dally who is the wildest, reckless of them all and has a soft spot for Johnny, and Johnny (the pet's gang)... he came from a rough background, getting bit by his father while his mother did not care... and Ponyboy and his brothers all make up this gang... or group... They are like brothers and they got each others back yo... I think some of their slang... kind of make me talk in slang...lol...but WARNING: There is slang in the book...it's not really that bad... to be honest... you can either tell what they are trying to say... because it's obvious or CONTEXT CLUES....Now back to the story there is another set of group called the Socs and they wear madras (kind of like plaid clothing) and ride Mustangs... they're more... I guess upper class than the Greasers... but the reason why they have this huge feud, because the Greasers thing the Socs are "living the life" while the Socs think the Greasers are having the dream life... which causes their resent towards each other... So one day Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally end up going to a drive-in movie theater... and guess who's next to them???? I hoped you guess right... but two girls... who were Socs were next to them... Of course Dally being Dally... he was a jerk to them... and end up leaving the theater earlier... Cherry(because of her hair color...it's red) and Marcia (the Socs) end up talking to Ponyboy and Johnny.... Later on Two-Bit comes along and charms the girls.... but Ponyboy and Cherry had this huge discussion...they realize that the Greasers have emotions while Socs just fake their emotions... to the point they don't feel anything... but even though they "live in different worlds" they still watch the same sunset... which is the beginning of their friendship... One day... Bob (Cherry's boyfriend) and his friends jump on Ponyboy and Johnny (Johnny has this huge fear from the Socs because they once jumped on him... to the point Johnny could've been dead), where they try to drown Ponyboy, and the quiet, shy Johnny strikes back and stabs Bob, which causes the other Socs to run away and Ponyboy saved...but Johnny's action causes Ponyboy and Johnny to run away with the help of Dally, while the police is looking out for the murderer... So now what's going on(if you read it, you'll know the ending)???? Through this adventure you'll laugh, cry, smile, and feel different emotions.... because all of these events that happened are something we can all relate to.... This is what I really enjoyed from the author; you could feel the pure and raw emotions from this short story.... and that's what makes the whole story to be a memorable story we cannot forget. It's surprising even though this story was writhed around the 1960's, this author lived it, and we still have problems like this in this world... no lie... So I hope you read this sentimental, suspenseful adventure.... READ!!!!!

The Westing Game

The Westing Game

By Ellen Raskin

This book was really good because it was a mystery and they needed to find out who commited the crime. They get clues and a 12 year old thinks she has solved it. There are many confusing things and people prentend to be other people that they really aren't. It sounds weird but it is a really good book. Please read it
