Kids Books - Humor
Ungifted
By Gordon Korman
Firstly this was an awesome book. Gordon Korman did a great job, as always. Donovan Curtis is an average guy, total class clown and does weird things. After he breaks part of a statue as a prank, he gets “accidentally” sent off to the Academy of Scholastic Distinction when his principal makes a screw-up. The Academy has kids over 150+ IQ, including Noah Youkilis, who has an IQ of 206. But what these kids don’t know despite their amazing IQ, is how to be normal. When Donovan arrives, he does not achieve good grades and is not the gifted student he is “supposed” to be, but instead introduces a new level to the Academy kids. He introduces YouTube to Noah who ends up getting addicted to it, and Chloe Garfinkle may even have a small crush on him. The team is working on a new robot for a competition, and Donovan does not know ANYTHING about robotics but surfs Google for stickers to stick on the robot... (which Donovan named Heavy Metal Metallica Squarepants) but skilfully operates the joystick controlling Heavy Metal. Once his principal realises his mistake, he immediately sends Donovan back to his original school. The Academy kids realise they need Donovan more than ever now. But what could they do about it? Read Ungifted to find out!
Junie B. Jones and the Stupid Smelly Bus (Junie B. Jones, No. 1)
By Barbara Park
Meet Junie B. Jones!! "The B. Stands for Beatrice. Except I don't like Beatrice, I like B. and that's all." It’s the first day of kindergarten. But Junie B. did not like riding the bus to school. She thinks its scary and that meanie ol' Jim rides that bus. Only guess what? Junie B. is an excellent hider. So, at the end of the day when everyone lines up to go home . . . . but Junie B. Jones finds her way out of riding the bus, and doesn’t get on. I really liked this book, it kind of reminded me of my kindergarten years, both of my parents worked so they couldn't take me to school. I was really scared about the bus, but I saw some of my friends on there and felt pretty comfortable. I love Barbra parks she is a GREAT author!!!!!
No, David!
By David Shannon
When I was little, I loved to read these books, and they amazed me! I laughed so hard that I could cry! And now as I grow up, I forgot these books, but when I saw the cover today, it reminded me of a flashback, reading this book. And now I forgot the drawings in this book! I hope everybody enjoys this funny book!
Adventures of Tom Sawyer (Boys' & Girls' Library)
By Mark Twain
A classic by Mark Twain of "Adventures of Tom Sawyer" which is about a boy who goes by the well-known name of Tom Sawyer with at first mischievous and immature boy at the beginning of the story, often getting in trouble with his aunt Polly often scold her nephew. You would often see that Tom would be with his friend, Huck (Huckleberry Finn) whom Tom really close to, getting in trouble, too with him. Then Rebecca (known most of time as just Becky) Thatcher, a daughter of the town's new judge, as Tom got the romantic interest in Becky, got "engaged" due to the kiss until it's revealed by Tom that he actually "engaged" by another girl, Amy Lawrence, had the fight with Becky about it. Then, we have Injun Joe, a Native American who would defend himself most of time but got the racism from Tom and Huck. Later in the book, as Tom grew more considerate, kind, funny, and more mature than the beginning of the story. I had to read this for school and finally finished with this book today as I didn't really enjoy this due to the type of English which is Old English which can make me more harder to understand and also with the racism against the colored or even Native Americans. - Happy Reading...maybe!

The Spy School Collection: Spy School; Spy Camp; Evil Spy School
By Stuart Gibbs
Don’t get me wrong this book is AMAZING and you DO have to read it (along with every other book in the series) but, the Spy School series is a bit repetitive and it usually goes something like this: an evil group of people try to do something bad Ben going into the seen as bait, usually without realizing. There is an obstacle the have to get around, nobody can figure out there plan but Ben figures it at at the last minute. The world is saved! Although this is the mane gists I totally recommend.
The Last Kids on Earth
By Max Brallier
Wakefield was once an ordinary town-that was before the monster apocalypse took place. 42 days ago, the town was hit by waves of zombies, Dozers, Windged Wretches and a lot more monsters. 13-year old Jack Sullivan has been living in his tree-house ever since that day, when his foster family took off without him(he doesn't miss them). He is actually having fun in his tree house-he has armed it with catapults and moats, and has video games and supplies of Oreos and Mountain Dew from nearby abandoned stores. He gets to fight monsters and take action-filled photos just like he always wanted. The only thing is that he wishes he knew where his best friend Quint is, and he wants to rescue his crush June (wherever she is), and not that she knows he exists. One day he uses his Walkie, and finds Quint! Quint has been staked out at his own house, and has been busy with science experiments and preparing Big Mama(a super-awesome advanced car), for fighting monsters. Eventually Jack and Quint find an old bully Dirk, and the three team up. But Jack is dedicated to finding June and rescuing the damsel in distress. All the while he has to avoid Blarg, an interestingly smart monster who has it out for Jack. Will he succeed and survive in this new world? The story is told in a mixture of text and black-and-white comic book illustrations that is easy to read and follow along. I really liked the science involved in some of their adventures, like when Quint outfits Big Mama for battle. I recommend this book to elementary and middle school boys. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.
Dog Man: Lord of the Fleas: From the Creator of Captain Underpants (Dog Man #5)
By Dav Pilkey
I love Dog Man. I started reading the books in 4th grade when I was introduced to it. I was given a free paper dog man book with 33 pages. Anyways, I loved it. I bought two hardcover books for a total of $20. I read them both in one hour. My brother's school had a book fair and he bought to for $20, as well. Same thing happened with him, he read them both in one hour. I love these books, but that's just too much money for, 1. something (I know it purposely looks like that) that does not look like it took too much time to make, 2. something that takes you 30 minutes to read, 3 something that does not have many pages. Dog Man is the best, and I have read this one, it's about the adventures with his cat friends. I would definitely recommend that if you have not yet read the other books, I think you should before you read this one because you can get a better understanding of everything. I also have some pros and cons about the books for younger children, one of the cons is that they don't use "proper" language, but a pro about this book for younger children is that it does not take long to read, it's humorous, and it does not use a lot of big words, only one or two a book. Closing, I just don't think that this book is worth $10 dollars just for you to read it in 30 minutes. I am not trying to hate on Dog Man, y'all!! This review was thought out, and took time to be written, so please respect that. Follow me to get the inside scoop about books!! Bye y'all!! ☺
Tales from a Not-So-Graceful Ice Princess (Dork Diaries, No. 4)
By Rachel Renée Russell
I've gone ice skating a few times and loved every minute of it. This book is about highschooler Nikki Maxwell and her crush Brandon. Brandon asks Nikki out to help volunteer at a local animal shelter, and her little sister Brianna messes things up by texting him. Nikki soon makes things right with him and sets up an official date! After spending the day there and seeing how lovely it is Brandon proceeds to tell Nikki they have to close down due to financial issues. Nikki knows she has to do something about that and the perfect thing comes up! You can enter a skating competition for a huge cash prize. Nikki is thrilled to enter with her and her friends even though she has no experience. Soon she finds out her arch-enemy is a great ice skater and is entering the contest, from there on all things go downhill. Will they win? Will Nikki learn in time? will the animal shelter stay in business? Read Dork Diaries not such a great ice princess to find out. My connection to this book is I am always ready to help out friends in need even if that means taking big risks.
