The Wimpy Kid Movie Diary: How Greg Heffley Went Hollywood

By Jeff Kinney

You've probably seen tons of movies, but how were they made? How did that superhero punch through that wall? Where was that scene filmed? How did they make a movie with all those kids? In the Diary of a Wimpy Kid Movie, lots of work was put into the film. Just how did they make the movie? If you want to know, then read this book! This book is great for you if you watched the movie and wanted to find out more about it.

Big Nate Flips Out

Big Nate Flips Out

By Lincoln Peirce

Big Nate is cool, I guess. But there's something in the book that bothers me... But never mind. Let's get started...So, "you're such a slob." said Francis, Nate's best friend. Nate looks at him like his locker wasn't the messiest thing he's ever seen. "Are you talking to me?" Nate asks. So that goes to say that Nate is clueless that he was a pig. At science class, Francis gets an A for his quiz so Nate thinks he's getting an A too. But Mr Galvin calls him over to his desk instead. He failed his Quiz because of his sloppiness. He really doesn't know this messiness could lead to big problems...after class, they went to the yearbook meeting. Last year's yearbook stank on ice because it was being run by Nick Blondsky. So the new editor was bound to be an improvement...But...GINA ended up as editor so Nate nominates FRANCIS as editor when he realizes Gina would make the yearbook all about herself. In doing so, he also asks Francis to ask Mrs Godfrey for the camera. So Francis gives the camera to Nate...but who KNOWS what Nate could do to the camera with his sloppines...But when things go bad, its Nate's job to fix everything...

A Year Down Yonder

A Year Down Yonder

Mary Alice, age 15, feels very sorry for herself when she is put on a train by her parents (because they need to get a smaller house where there is no room for her) during the economic slump after "The Great War" (WW1), to live with her grandma (a woman known for being very active and having a gun) in a small town where everyone knows everything. I would recommend this book to age ten and up because it has some parts that are better for older kids (A painter tries to paint the post lady while she has not clothes on, and then a snake falls on her because the painter's studio is in the attic, and the post lady runs back to the post office screaming without her clothes on, and there is also a tiny bit of romance).

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (Harry Potter)

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (Harry Potter)

By Newt Scamander

A collection of every beast, animal, and monster in the wizard word out together in alphabetical order, how dangerous it really is and full detail of it. This book is supposed to be. Harry's school book (that he shares with Ron) and it is full of funny notes that they have written being funny. I think this was really fun to read and is a good companion book with the 7 Harry Potter Books. Recommended to anyone who reads Harry Potter. Thanks for reading -Ajg16's reviews

Peeled

Peeled

By Joan Bauer

A spooky thriller, Peeled is a great book to read on an October weekend, leading up to Halloween! Hildy Biddle's looking for a story to write in her high school newspaper. She's stumped until a haunted house in the neighborhood starts to create some racket. She does all she can to write an amazing story, which then leads into some clashing with other newspapers in the town, which then leads to blackmail. But finally, the high school newspaper finds their way, with a surprise twist at the end! Joan did a great job with this book. One of my favorite parts was that she took Banesville, NY, the place that the story is in, and though it is fictional, she really makes it seem real, by adding in details like that it was in apple country, which is widespread throughout NY. She really gives attention to each individual character, and lets each of them grow. Overall, a quick read but a good read!
