The Last Straw (Diary of a Wimpy Kid)

The Last Straw (Diary of a Wimpy Kid)

By Jeff Kinney

The Wimpy Kid books never fail to make me laugh. Kinney has a great sense of comic timing in these books and the pictures really do make the story what it is. What bothers me about these books is the main character's attitude and the way he treats others. I hope that kids see that the reason Greg gets himself into trouble all the time is because of his attitude. Instead of looking up to him, it's my hope that kids who read this book say, "Man, if Greg just treated people with a little more respect then maybe he wouldn't always get himself into these bad situations." I've said it in other reviews of these books before, but I'll say it again: I don't think Greg's physique is wimpy; I think his character is. Greg’s father wants to make a man out of his dandelion-blowing son. To achieve this admirable goal, he is intent on sending Greg off to a military academy. This doesn’t sit well with Mr.Wimpy, who was looking forward to a summer of playing video-games and sleeping....snarfing down junk-food and sleeping....hooking up with the pretty Holly Hills and yep, catching up on some more sleep. The Wimpy Kid series may be considered juvenile and trite. But it’s entertaining and you read it with a constant smile playing on your lips. Sometimes you even snort with glee (well, I did). I say, regardless of your age....pick it up for some instant laughs, dry humour and a cast of characters that is so unbelievably well put together that you can’t help but stay hooked.

Gooney Bird Greene

Gooney Bird Greene

By Lois Lowry

I think you should read Gooney Bird Greene because... The author added a lot of detail! Gooney Bird Greene is going to a new school because she moved. Yep a new school here are a few things that describe a new school.....No best friends to hang around with yet, New teachers, New cafeteria, New food, New class. Those are just a few things that describe New School. Does Gooney Bird fit in or not? I rate this book 5 stars. :)

Positively Izzy

Positively Izzy

By Terri Libenson

In this electrifying sequel to the bestselling Invisible Emmie graphic novel, Terri Libenson brings her mad comic skills to the table with Positively Izzy! This book follows the school life of Izzy and Brianna, two wildly different middle schoolers. Izzy is an outgoing, positive girl who's a sucker for theater. Her whole life is about acting - until something happens that blockades her from auditioning for the talent show! Brianna, on the other hand, Emmie's best friend, is known as The Brain of school. She's smart and friendly and hasn't a care for theater, even though her mom is the theater teacher. But what happens when a freak accident lands her an audition in the talent show? Watch these two girls' worlds collide and unfold - with a spectacular plot twist at the end, this book cannot disappoint.

Invisible Emmie

Invisible Emmie

By TERRI LIBENSON

Emmie always has been shy and quite. Emmie is 13 and in 7th grade . Emmie has a brother and a sister. But they are a lot older then emmie. Emmie's parents called her the "Oops baby " . But she doesn't like to think of that 😂 . Katie is really the opposite of emmie. She is pretty , talky , and very popular. Emmie now has a big crush on Tyler Ross . which happens to be katie's "boyfriend ." Read the entire book for the HUGE twist at the end. This is one of the best books I have ever read before. I recommend it to all ages and I rate this book 5/5 stars! -Pizzagirl7
