My Explosive Diary (Eliza Boom)

My Explosive Diary (Eliza Boom)

By Emily Gale

Eliza Boom is her father’s inventing assistant. She and her dog, Einstein, have had many great ideas for inventions, but none have worked out. As her father says, there are 99 failed inventions before a great one! After giving a class bully an early birthday present, Eliza’s father loses a spy ribbon (his top-secret project). But then, Eliza realizes that she tied the ribbon onto Zoe’s present, and it is now in Zoe’s hair! Now, before her dad finds out, she must get the spy ribbon back and try to get some revenge on Zoe. In a short, illustrated chapter book, Eliza tries to save her dad from big trouble. What I thought: This is definitely a book for younger readers—it is short, illustrated, and geared toward a younger audience. I think if you are starting to read chapter books, then this is a great book for you, with some action/adventure, and some fun things that happen in it. With a nice story and interesting illustrations, this is definitely a great read for starting readers!

Digby O'Day in the Fast Lane

I think it is cute. The pictures were really good. The story was about them having a race. It was a little bit too easy for me though (I'm 9).

Pinkie Pie And The Rockin' Ponypalooza Party! (My Little Pony (Little, Brown & Company))

Pinkie Pie And The Rockin' Ponypalooza Party! (My Little Pony (Little, Brown & Company))

By G. M. Berrow

This book is the first I read in the series. It's about a pony named Pinkie Pie who throws a party to celebrate the start of spring. In the middle of the party, Twilight Sparkle sees four ponies that she didn't recognize, but Pinkie does. It's her family! When she welcomes them, Igneous Rock, her father, says he and the rest of her family aren't in Ponyville to see her at all! They are there to tell Twilight Sparkle that they are about to lose their rock farm. Pinkie is so upset that she cancels the party! Later, in Applejack's barn, the family tells Pinkie that gems are what caused the family's rock farm to almost be lost. Pinkie suggests to throw a party to make rocks more popular, but her family thinks she should be serious for once in her life and not throw a party. Pinkie Pie "pinkie promises" she will be serious for the rest of her life to impress her parents, but she isn't the same to her friends without fun in her life! The ponies decide to show Pinkie that they needed her help, and she finally finds out her parents like her better the way she was before she became serious! She goes back to party planning mode and shows everypony that rocks really do rock! The rock farm is back in business at the end, and everything turns out OK. This is one of the best books I have read.
