I thought this book was ok. It was about a girl named Taffy who lived on the Cape Hatteras coast during World War 2. Taffy played with her friends on the beach a lot. Also, Taffy and her dog and her horse explore Cape Hatteras together.

This book is based on a true story during World War II. Taffy's village is under attack from German U Boats, so the USA is trying to stop the attacks. I liked that it took place in an area near me, but it was hard to understand because they wrote in a North Carolina accent.
At first, reading this book was challenging because it takes place on the Outer Banks of North Carolina and the natives speak in a dialect that was difficult to read. I did get passed it being a distraction and then I enjoyed trying to "hear" the characters talk in my head. Lots of action and adventure with some historical facts thrown in.
