I LOVE this book!!!!! It was AWSOM!!! I didn't want to stop reading it!

Hatchet by Gary Paulson. Hatchet is part of a series but don’t worry Hatchet is the first book! After Hatchet, there is, The River, Brian’s Winter, Brian’s Return, and Brian’s Hunt. Gary Paulson has also won three Newberry awards... crazy! Hatchet is a thrilling read filled with jaw dropping scenes that keep you on the edge of your seat!!! It is a must read book! After an accident Brian finds himself lost in the Canadian wilderness. With only a hatchet handy he has to learn how to survive. He meets new “friends,” finds food, and becomes a totally new person. Brian experiences life changing events and goes through massive learning curves. All this with his hatchet by his side, the hatchet that WAS him. This book is a great read. I enjoyed the amazing use of imagery to create realistic scenes in the book. It brought you into the book as if you were right in the moment, sharing feelings, thoughts, and experiences with the character. I really think the author did an amazing job on this. The author also really was able to show Brian's personality and who he was really highlighting in certain moments that he was a city-boy in the wilderness by thinking and acting like one. The author also did a great job on showing great change in Brian’s physical appearance and mental state before being lost in the wilderness and during his time in the wilderness. Although, the only thing I found disappointing in the book was the ending, it almost felt unfinished. But, overall a really good, enjoyable book! I would recommend this book for 10+. If you enjoy reading about nature and survival skills this is a good book for YOU! Or even if you just like being outside and enjoying nature, that's fine too!

The title of the book is Hatchet, by Gary Paulsen. The genre is adventure fiction. The setting is a forest. The characters are Brian/his parents and the pilot. The themes nature/survival. The book was very good and I recommend it and I give it 5 stars

I've read this book in school. It really wasn't my type of book to read. There's a REALLY old movie about this and I've watched it about 2 times, I still don't like it.
