I think that it would be pretty harsh living in a world like this, but overall this was a good book so I give it 4 stars

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before - and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.
New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Collins delivers equal parts suspense and philosophy, adventure and romance, in this searing novel set in a future with unsettling parallels to our present.

It's a great book.
I is a great book with violence with makes it a action pact book 5 stars SLAY!
Imagine living in a word, where every year, called the Reaping, two people, a girl and boy from ages 12-18, are chosen between 12 other districts to fight to the death, and the last one standing wins their district food, money and endless happiness. Well, that's what happens in this book. Katniss Everdeen , an illegal hunter to feed her family, and the rest of her district. Her district is District 12, the poorest district, and has never known what it feels like to be full, volunteers as a tribute, to standing against 23 others, and fight to the death. But, there is someone who is always on her mind ever since his name was called: Peeta. "I remember him, from when I was smaller." "Why is he getting in my head?" "Peeta, Peeta, Peeta," is all that runs through her head. Before the Games even start, there is manipulation, confusion, danger and love, a book everyone should read. Before reading this book, I really didn't think I would like it, considering the fact that I'm very, very picky when it comes to reading books, and will immediately put one down if it doesn't satisfy me. There is a rare moment where I feel touched by a book, and very emotional. That is how this book made me feel; I swear I cried sometimes. This book is really symbolic, and shows a comparison to the real world, and the class system. As most people know, District 12, the district Katniss grew up in, represents a class of poverty, the low class system. Places like District 11, to around District 5, would fall under the class system of Middle and Upper Middle class, which is like having basic needs, a job, enough food on the table, maybe even sometimes surplus, and just overall, a good amount of everything. Then you have District, 4, 3, 2, and 1, who are basically the rich people. Very entitled, always has food on the table, has never struggled, and has money galore. This is exactly like our world, with people in poverty, people who have things they need, and a little more, and then the people who have so much that they could share, but don't. This book not only subtly shows that, but also shows tension when all of these people come together as equals every year, fighting to the death. This is why I love this book, there are multiple meanings to that. If you watched the movies, you'll definitely enjoy the books
Really, Really good book. Really good dystopian like descriptions of the atmosphere and the world around Katniss and Peeta. I am the type of person who likes a lot of gore. I love the Halloween movie series and Friday the 13th and other slasher films. I felt really satisfied with the violence in this book. It sounds bad, and I promise I don't go around hurting any1 and I'm not a serial killer (istg) but it was a good amount of gore. Really good book, would definitely recommend.
I read this book a couple of months ago, and it was amazing. I was kept awake for several nights in a row, and I could not close the book. Suzanne Collins really generates constant action, and whenever you read something by her, it's hands down awesome!
I love the Hunger Games series! The movies are also great! ❤️
In the ruins of former North America lies the nation of Panem. The capitol is surrounded by twelve districts. The only way the capitol knows to keep the districts in line is by the hunger games. Each district must send a boy and a girl between the ages of twelve to eighteen to participate in the games, a fight to the death on television. Winning the games means fame and fortune while losing means certain death. When the contestants are chosen for the seventy-fourth hunger games are chosen and twelve year old Prim Everdeen is chosen, sixteen year old Katniss knows she has to take her sister's place. Even though Katniss has been close to death before, she still regards the games as a death sentence. Katniss knows she and her partner Peeta must win for district twelve. Awaiting her fait, Katniss knows she must try her best and survive, for the sake of district twelve, and her family, but if she does win, she doesn't want to give up her privacy and her life. The games change lives, but will it change Katniss and Peeta's life?
Good review @foreverreagancorn!
This is my all time favorite book by a long shot! Perfect for readers 11-13. I used to hate sci-fi, but when I read this book it was so amazing. The Hunger Games is a dystopian book where there are 12 districts and a place called the Capital. The Capital is the richest and then there's District 1 and District 2, and they get poorer and poorer as you go down. Now about the title: There had once been 13 districts but the thirteenth decided to rebel and the Capital won a war against them. Ever sense the Capital has taken 1 boy and 1 girl from each District to compete in the Hunger Games. Enjoy!
This book is amazing! I kept hearing about how amazing this book is so I decided to check it out, and now it is my favorite book! It is about Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, who has had a crush on Katniss for a while. After Katniss, who volunteers to take her sister's place in the Hunger Games, a cometition where 12 boys and 12 girls battle each other until only one remains alive, she and Peeta are placed in a arena with other kids to battle. It is an amazing, thrilling book, with dystipian, action, and a bit of romance.
