A modern-day classic and New York Times bestseller that celebrates the power of individuality and personal expression from beloved Newbery Medalist Jerry Spinelli.

Stargirl. From the day she arrives at quiet Mica High in a burst of color and sound, the hallways hum with the murmur of “Stargirl, Stargirl.” She captures Leo Borlock’ s heart with just one smile. She sparks a school-spirit revolution with just one cheer. The students of Mica High are enchanted. At first.

Then they turn on her. Stargirl is suddenly shunned for everything that makes her different, and Leo, panicked and desperate with love, urges her to become the very thing that can destroy her: normal. In this celebration of nonconformity, Newbery Medalist Jerry Spinelli weaves a tense, emotional tale about the perils of popularity and the thrill and inspiration of first love.

Don’t miss the sequel, Love, Stargirl, and Jerry Spinelli’s latest novel, The Warden’s Daughter, about another girl who can't help but stand out.

“Spinelli is a poet of the prepubescent. . . . No writer guides his young characters, and his readers, past these pitfalls and challenges and toward their futures with more compassion.” —The New York Times

Stargirl is a girl, a very unique girl. She is really different than all of the other people. Her personality, looks, etc... A lot of people didn't like her and bullied her, but she didn't bother to care about them. She was being herself. She has a pet rat, Cinnamon. Eventually she made a friend named Leo, they sort of had a relationship but it didn't really workout that well. She has to face different obstacles every day. No matter how mean people are to her, she is always really kind back. I really like this book and I think more people should read it.

In my opinion, I think Stargirl is an important reflection, or mirror that all of us lack. In her study in Mica High, she didn’t dress up or behave in the way everyone else did when she first showed up. Leo was later attracted by Stargirl and loved her, but he actually expected she would keep trying to blend in and act normal. To me, in this story, Archie is the symbol of wisdom and our soul, because I think when we feel perplexed, it’s essential to listen to our hearts and make the wise decision. However, he isn’t my favorite character. I love Stargirl Caraway the most. She was outrageous, courageous, extraordinary, differently amazing, and beautiful from the deepest part of her soul. Maybe she seemed to be a careless person in the story, but actually I think the only thing she was doing is being herself and enjoying her life. Honestly, I personally think the most common way people encounter others’ disapprovals is to change ourselves even we actually don’t want to and aren’t willing to. Well, at least I admit that’s me. After reading this book, I found the power to love what I did and do what I love as well as love myself.

Star girl was a very inspiration character, everyone should be able to be as free as her no matter what!

"Stargirl" is a book about school life. This is a book about a girl named Stargirl and a boy named Leo relationship's story. Stargirl is different to the other people, she always does weird things, like dancing in the rain and something else, but Leo is not a strange boy, he do every thing not every one do. They have different personality but they like each other. It is weird and also happened many things. I suggest you to read this book.

The book "stargirl" was narrated by Leo a 11th grader, in this the story main character is a girl called Stargirl, she goes to Mica High School. Before she went to mica high school she was homeschooled. She isn't a normal girl, she have hobbies such as singing happy birthday to random people and remembering people birthdays. In the beginning Stargirl and leo had a relationship, but as they got closer, people start ignoring them, because of that Leo had to decide if she want to stay with Stargirl or not. Something I really liked about the story is how the author make a situation that can actually happen's in really life, in other story some author make up situation that can rarely happens. Something that I think the author should improve on is organizing the story, I kind of find the beginning of the story quite boring. Something that I could relate to the book is before when someone was get bullied, I can decide to either help him but then get accused for helping him or I could just be a bystander and let that happen,

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! So basically in the story Stargirl is an amazingly selfless person who caries around a ukulele and has o pet rat named Cinnamon. But, at the start of that year, her and her pioneer dresses, Cinnamon, and her ukulele willatend Mica High school. There, she will have to deal with popularity, and with the help of a boy named Jack, will need to find her true self, or, be the very thing that could destroy her: normal...

Stargirl is a girl that studied at Mica High School. She is a normal girl but kinda different too. She dress up weird but then she is trying to be herself. She always have your ukulele with her. When it is lunch time she will sing happy birthday song by herself. People think that she is weird so she have no friends but then she is trying to be herself. I suggested this book to people who is scared about being himself because after I finish reading this book I think it's really good. So than I really suggested this book to other people. Be yourself!!

A boy called Leo went to a new school and he meet a girl called Stargirl and she is different than other people, she sing happy birthday song to people who have birthday. She also is the cheerleader, but she cheer on both side. She is a very nice girl but weird. Leo fall in love with Stargirl, and they both like each other. And this book let me know you have to be yourself, you don't have to care what people say about you

I think that Stargirl was a very unique, one of a type kind of book, I enjoyed it a lot. It was about a homeschooled girl who went to a school called Mica High. She had never been to a school before and her name was Stargirl, and she had made it up herself. She would sing happy birthday to people at lunch, she had a pet rat named cinnamon, and she wore very unique clothes. She wasn't aware at all of people around her's opinion until the narrator, Leo told her. I thought it was a great book and one of those books that I just couldn't put down to stop reading.
