You have to know by now, MJET is one of my all-time favorites.

Jacob Have I Loved is a powerful story about the relationship of two sisters. It's beautifully and powerfully written, but it will appeal to teenage girls, rather than a boy and girl audience.

B for Buster is a terrific action-packed war story about a boy who joins the Canadian Air Force during WWII. If you like war stories or great young adult literature, try B for Buster.

Despereaux is much longer than MJET, but because of that, there are more back stories that wonderfully tie together at the end. The back story of Miggery Sow is so touching. If you've seen the movie, do yourself a favor and read the novel too.

Graveyard Book is about a child growing up in a cemetery after his parents are murdered. I don't normally recommend violent books, but GB is extremely well written by Neil Gaiman. GB really is a modern day Jungle Book story, although it's set in a cemetery.
