I think it is a good of how they write there story and it is so interesting

In the land of La Paz (which translates to peace), and the name is completely ironic to the story. The city is separated into two parts; the City of Stone and Plaster is where the rich reside and the poor live in the huts living off of the meager money earned from selling pearls. The story follows the tragedy of Kino, his wife Juana, and baby boy Coyotito. On one trip for pearl fishing, Kino discovers a pearl of enormous size and value. However, the discovery of The Pearl of the World only brings bad fortune to his family. Everyone turns against them in envy, and the pearl buyers attempt to cheat Kino for offering only ridiculously low prices for the pearl. Kino dreamed of a life of luxury and happiness, but most importantly, he wants to send his boy to school. Education is the power to the knowledge that the poor people of the village lacked. The avarice for the pearl throughout the story goes too far when thieves attempt to hurt the family. As a result, the little boy lost his life and the pearl is returned to the ocean. The message between greed and evil is shown clearly in the novel and is beautifully written. John Steinbeck is clearly a skilled writer.

I understand the appeal. I must not be the target audience because I found it slow. But overall a good book.

This book is awesome! Kino changes from a happy and poor man to a snobby and wealthy mess. I recommend everyone to read this book, it is great for all ages.

wow, i don't know what to say besides THIS BOOK WAS EXCELLENT!!! In every single chapter drama and even a little accidental comedy is introduced. There are constant twists, changes in characters ('wink wink kino') and I am always satisfied with the chapter. I would recommend this book to any kid over 10 and any adult or teenager. I am sure you will at least love it!

It's going to be difficult, I think, for kids under 11. It's really good, and dramatic.

This book was not bad. I had to read it for my English class. As I started I had a pretty bad attitude. By the middle of the book I was reading in my own free time to see what happened. At one point in the book, for about 2 chapters, the book get's really slow. I you think you like action books with some drama in it, I think you'll like this book. Read it, give it a shot.
