All of the Above

All of the Above

By Shelley Pearsall

I haven't even finished it, and it's not that good. It's one of those books that teachers always make you read. It's really cheesy. I like the layout, though. How Each chapter is told from a different character's perspective, and they each tell it a different way.

Have you ever felt like you don't know if you are this or that? Maybe you felt torn apart. Or maybe you even felt like you don't belong. Then welcome to Isabella's world. Her life hasn't been easy. Well, it's easier if I start from the beginning. Isabella's parents' got a divorce, one of the worst things that could possibly happen (her mom is white and her dad is black). Now, she goes to her moms house, then the next week her dads house, then switch and the same thing over and over. It makes her feel like a visitor because she can't live in a permanent place. After the divorce her mom has a new boyfriend and her dad has a new girlfriend. So much is going on, it's hard for Isabella to take in. After a few months or so Isabella's friend finds a noose in her gym locker. Suddenly, there are more questions than answers! Who would do such a thing to one of her best friends? While the mystery is still not solved other things are going on, that is her moms boyfriend proposed to her mom and her dad proposed to his girlfriend! Not only that ,she has a piano competition coming up! As she is on her way to the competition they get stopped by the police. What is going on? Hands up! Isabella is scared and as she is pulling her phone out from her pocket to text her parents, BANG! She falls to the floor. My thoughts: Wow! What a fantastic book! There was so much going on in this book that sadly, I just could not fit it in my review. But if I can't fit it in my review and you want to know what happens then you have to get this book! Isabella is very inspiring! She has gone through so much but she just keeps going!I recommend you read this book!!! And I hope after you read this book you will also be inspired. Have an awesome day!

Clap When You Land

Clap When You Land

By Elizabeth Acevedo

Brimming with emotion, this book speaks to the heart.

Hunger (Gone)

Hunger (Gone)

By Michael Grant

Hunger is the second book in the Gone book series. It again stars many main characters in a town called Perdido Beach after everyone over 15 vanishes. In this book, everyone is now starving due to poor management of food in their town. Additionally, people are not trying to farm to get more food. The leader of the town, Sam, is trying to find food, which is the main plot of the book. I really like the premise of this book, as if I were in the same situation, I would probably do the same thing. This book shows the reality of the situation, and makes me ponder about it. Also, I like this book (and the entire series in general) for having a bit of a sci-fi twist to it, where many people start developing mutant powers due to exposure to a power plant explosion. This leads to some normal people starting to hate the people with mutant powers. There starts to be a bit of an allegory to civil rights issues, which I find very interesting, especially in a young adult book. I feel that the right demographic for this book is young adults from the ages of 12-15. This is because there is a bit of language and inappropriate content in this book (and generally in the series) This book gets a 4 out of 5 from me.

Camille's Story, 1910 (Secrets of the Manor)

Camille's Story, 1910 (Secrets of the Manor)

By Adele Whitby

Camille is a servant's daughter who lost her father (the Grounds Keeper) from an illness, so Camille is left with her mom, a servant chef. Now, Camille is very happy because the two people who "own" all of the servant/maids, are very nice people! Their names are, Madam Collette Rousseau and Monsieur Henry Rousseau. One day Camille overhears the mean maid, Bernadette, talking to Madam Collette about her cousins losing everything in a flood, Madam Collette does not refuse Bernadette letting them stay there, after all, it'll give them a new grounds keeper too! At first Camille is a little upset, since when her father died, Madam Collette let them stay in the Grounds Keeper Cottage. Camille remembers that every morning instead of going to the servants' breakfast, her mom would make breakfast at the cottage. Once Madam Collette tells everybody about Bernadette's cousins staying at the Rosseau Manor, Camille is not upset anymore because the Rousseau's are letting Camille stay in one of the wings where the Rosseau's live, but Camille soon Finds out that they are not their cousins. Even later on, one of the Rousseau's cousin's parents die, so Claire (the cousin) has to stay with the Rosseau's. Camille gets permission to make Claire's room, but later on Camille gets in trouble. And that's Where the mystery starts.
