The year is 490 AD.  Fiery 16-year-old Elaine of Ascolat,  the daughter of one of King Arthur's supporters,  lives with her father on Arthur's base camp,  the sole girl in a militaristic world of men. Elaine's only girl companion is the mysterious Morgan, Arthur's older sister, but Elaine cannot tell Morgan her deepest secret: She is in love with Lancelot, Arthur's second-in-command. However, when yet another girl -- the lovely Gwynivere-- joins their world, Elaine is confronted with startling emotions of jealousy and rivalry. But can her love for Lancelot survive the birth of an empire?

If you love learning things about the King Arthur times, you will absolutely love this book. It takes place on an army camp site which just happens to be the campsite of King Arthur (before he was king) with Elaine of Ascolat, Lancelot, Gwenivere, and Gawain, and many more. It's a must read!

By far the best book that I have ever read. It was an emotional rollar coaster. I was over joyed, sad, and angered all at the same time. The way this book is written, it feels like your are actually in the book. I will never find a book that compares to this one. Well done Lisa Ann Sandell

I loved this book so much that I read it 8 times. It told of love and loss. This book was an emotional roller coaster for me I cried and laughed and cried again. Now I totally wish that I could tell you my faveorite part of this amazing lyricism but I can't because I would be spoiling the ending of it so you'll have to read it yourself.

Amazing. It told of love and loss, war and adventures, and best of all it was easy to love. Elaine had lost her mother at a young age and she had lived at a war camp ever since. As King Aurthur leaves for battle, Elaine follows. But will she live?

This book is good. It is written in verse so it is a fast read. It is about King Arthur, but it is more like the original version than Avalon High.
