Raina just wants to be a normal sixth grader. But one night after Girl Scouts she trips and falls, severely injuring her two front teeth. What follows is a long and frustrating journey with on-again, off-again braces, surgery, embarrassing headgear, and even a retainer with fake teeth attached. And on top of all that, there's still more to deal with: a major earthquake, boy confusion, and friends who turn out to be not so friendly.

I Looooooove this book! I read over 8 times, it is a great story. This book is about a girl named Raina losing her 2 front teeth and having to go through a lot of drama because of it. This is a true story!
Smile is an adorable and true-to-life story about the transition from child to teenager. Raina Telgemeier tells entertaining (and sometimes sad) stories from her childhood through unique drawings in this graphic novel. I loved it so much that I read it three or four times! It's a really interesting novel. The sequel, Sisters, is just as entertaining. Definitely a must read for ages 10+. I love the bright colors and dialogue she uses. (usually I don't enjoy graphic novels, but all of hers have enough great dialogue and story to keep me interested!)
I've been through braces like her before. They are very uncomfortable. But, at least I didn't knock out a tooth just falling down. That would be scary!

Ok this info come from a girl who has had braces for three long years. This book is an AWESOME book , a must read for anyone and everyone , all ages. It has a hint of drama, a dash of romance, and a sliver of pain. It also shows that even when your in pain you just have to keep smiling. ( And trust me braces are painful!)
I would recommend this book to other kids in 4th-7th grade. It has a good message and it has a great educational value. The book hooked me from the start, and I couldn't put it down until I finished it.
The book Smile is an AWESOME book about drama, fake friends, braces, lost tooth, and...crushes? Go on a journey with Raina as she goes through middle school.
