Love the book!!!! Rina just wants to be a normal sixth grader. but one night after Girl scouts she trips and falls, severely injuring her two front teeth. what follows is a long and frustrating journey with on-again off-again braces, surgery, embarrassing headgear, and even a retainer with fake teeth attached. and on top of all that, there's still more to deal with: a major earthquake, boy confusion, and friends who turn out to be not so friendly.

It's a cute enough story about a girl and her issues with braces. However, the book has intrigued a younger audience than is appropriate. Overreactive parents are often shocked when they see these contents within the book (coming from experience): 1) a spin the bottle game at a party 2) friends giving the girl a make-over that included shaving her legs in order to wear short skirts and fish net stockings 3) dreaming of a first kiss 4) mean friends that ridicule each others looks 5) dreaming of ways to get a boy's attention The morale of the story is good - she ditches the mean friends in the end but there are some really harsh moments that she goes through.
