This book is one of my all-time favorites to read! There are fun facts for each day of the year! It's fun to read and quiz my parents and siblings afterwards. My favorite fact is that tug of war used to be an official event in the Summer Olympics! This is an easy read for boys and girls and fun for the whole family. I will definitely keep this book handy by the pool to read over and over again on summer break! I highly recommend this book!Almost 7 years agopumpkinprincess's book review was featured in Wonder.
First - Parents need to know that Wonder is about young boy, August Pullman, who has a congenital facial abnormality who has to cope with a range of reactions to his unusual appearance. Some kids use hateful language, and some people suggest that Auggie is mentally deficient. However, goodness wins out, and readers should find it inspiring and uplifting. Author R.J. Palacio writes the book in multiple voices -- Auggie's, some of his friends', his sister's -- and the different points of view are mostly very well-realized and show the inner feelings of the different characters. Wonder by RJ Palacio was astonishing! I think the book was for grades fifth-eighth grade, and adults would like it. This book can teach many different lessons. The one that stood out to me was not to judge by the way someone looked but by the inner character of that person. It is one of the most moving books I have read in a long time, and I am still pretty amazed at how the author wove so much complexity into a story for middle schoolers.Take home messages included, you can count on your parents even if things get tough, sometimes people make mistakes and deserve second chances, sometimes you just have to suck it up and endure and most importantly, in general, things change over time.Almost 7 years agopumpkinprincess added a book review.

This book is appropriate for all ages, me and my mom love this book. We read every night before I go to bed. I suggested getting this book. it is about a quirky girl with a romance and trying to overcome a major pet-sitting catastrophe by herself. She tries to hide it from her parents but there's a surprise she doesn't expect! It is engaging to see Nikki resolve her pet-sitting problems and it's funny to read! 10/10 book!Almost 7 years agopumpkinprincess added a book review.
I love the Dork Series of books! This one does not disappoint either. Nikki is faced with the problem of her local animal shelter getting shut down. Her crush also volunteers there. She constructs a plan to win the local ice skating competition to keep the animal shelter open with the winning cash prize. Some unfriendly girls try to corrupt her plan and she gets a big surprise! The ending is great! I love reading Dork Diary series of books because they are always fun and exciting!Almost 7 years ago
