Katsa has been able to kill a man with her bare hands since she was eight—she’s a Graceling, one of the rare people in her land born with an extreme skill. As niece of the king, she should be able to live a life of privilege, but Graced as she is with killing, she is forced to work as the king’s thug.
When she first meets Prince Po, Graced with combat skills, Katsa has no hint of how her life is about to change. She never expects to become Po’s friend. She never expects to learn a new truth about her own Grace—or about a terrible secret that lies hidden far away . . . a secret that could destroy all seven kingdoms with words alone.
With elegant, evocative prose and a cast of unforgettable characters, debut author Kristin Cashore creates a mesmerizing world, a death-defying adventure, and a heart-racing romance that will consume you, hold you captive, and leave you wanting more.

I had to read Graceling for a school book club, and I think that it was a decent choice. However, the beginning is PAINSTAKINGLY slow. In fact, if I didn't *have* to read this, I'd have probably given up on it. The kingdoms are explained in only a few pages, and they're constantly referred to throughout the duration of the book, causing me to have to rely on those few pages to remember which is which. There's practically nothing that differentiates the kingdoms from one another- in fact, the only people with their own customs are the Lienids, which I found to be strange. Po's Grace seems to be so much more extensive than Katsa's, which I feel was only an insert to make Katsa less of a Mary Sue- which, to be honest, we didn't really need. Po's Grace was interesting, but the fact that most Graces were simple made him seem overpowered, and the lore of the Graces to be inconsistent. Once the book picked up, however, it was a great read. It was chock-full of action, romance, magic, and mystery. (I loved Bitterblue's character, and will probably read her novel on my own when I get the time!) Give it a try, but I won't blame you if it lands on the DNF pile.

This was a book as good as Harry Potter. She starts as a lone wolf, and gradually makes her way into friendship with Po, a Lenid prince, and Bitterblue, an escaped princess whose father is, lets call it persuasive, but at the end, she develops a bit more than a friendship with the Lenid prince. <AMAZING>

Graceling was truthfully amazing like REALLY good like as good as harry potter. Summary: Katsa is a 16 year old graceling she has two different coloured eyes and an extraordinary gift; killing. She work as slave to her uncle the king hurting anyone who didn't follow his laws, until she meets Po a lienid boy graced with fighting who is bout to change her life. Graceling is an amazing book that I highly recommend.

Bitter Bitter

Graceling is actually one of my all time favourite books. Truly amazing. I really envy anyone who is reading it for the first time. I would recommend it to ANYONE over the age of (this is an estimation everyone is ready for the "stuff" in this book at a different time.) 12 and up again I was 10 so this is probably one to talk to your parents about. But really really amazing. :)

Do not recommend to people who don't like romance. Graceling is about people with supernatural powers. They have 2 different colored eyes. Katsa is graced with.... ö
