This book was very good and I would highly recommend it to anyone remotely interested in fantasy books, and even if you are not I would still suggest you give it a try. The book has a considerably low reading level but it still holds my attention as a senior. If you are looking to pass the time with a good story I insist that you read it. -Sincerely inconspicuous cat

They have always scared him in the past—the Rangers, with their dark cloaks and shadowy ways. The villagers believe the Rangers practice magic that makes them invisible to ordinary people. And now 15-year-old Will, always small for his age, has been chosen as a Ranger’s apprentice. What he doesn’t yet realize is that the Rangers are the protectors of the kingdom. Highly trained in the skills of battle and surveillance, they fight the battles before the battles reach the people. And as Will is about to learn, there is a large battle brewing. The exiled Morgarath, Lord of the Mountains of Rain and Night, is gathering his forces for an attack on the kingdom. This time, he will not be denied. . . .
Here is the fantasy adventure that launched the Ranger's Apprentice series, an epic story of heroes and villains that has become an international phenomenon. Perfect for fans of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings, T.H. White’s The Sword in the Stone, Christopher Paolini’s Eragon series, and George R. R. Martin’s Game of Thrones / A Song of Ice and Fire series.

I decided to read this book because it looked interesting to me. This book was also the perfect book for me and was right at my level of reading. I really enjoyed this book because it had an excellent story plot and was full of adventures.
This is the kick-off to my favorite series. It tells about how Will became a Ranger and his early training.
I decided that I wanted to read this series because Looked at all the front covers and it interested me. my favorite part was when will shot a burning arrow into the kalkaras thick hair it set fire to the beasts hair lighting it on fire then it kiiled the beast. I recommend this book to anywone.
The Ruins of Gorlan was a fairly good book. A ten year old would probably love this book, but there are a few problems with this book. First of all, the author, Mr. Flanagan, uses a lot of more complex words that I couldn't even understand (and I'm in middle school)! The story is good for the age limit, but the hard-to-understand words could definitely use a bit more simplifying for the younger audiences. Second, as the age limit says 10 and up, I find there to be mild swearing in the book. I don't know if there need be swearing in a book designed for that age limit. But all in all, I really enjoyed this book and I could actually sympathize with all the characters because they're not perfect. Can't wait to get my hands on the next book!
i love this book and this series. then i also love archery and the way the ranger's lived. if you like all those things you should really read this series.
i like the clever way will killed the kalakara
This awesome book is one of my favourites. The story is great in text but I would really like some pictures
Morgarath, the former Baron of Gorlan in the Kingdom of Araluen, is training an army of Wargals, creatures that had only existed in rumors and legends in the remote mountains, and is planning to attack the Kingdom of Gorlan. Meanwhile in Araluen, the big day has come for Will and his wardmates Horace, Alyss, Jenny and George, where they become an apprentice. Will first choice is battleschool, since his father was there too. However, he doesn't have the abilities they are looking for, so he becomes an apprentice to a Ranger named Halt. Will learns skills most Rangers have, like using bows and being able to be unseen. During that time he became closer to Halt and was also given a horse called Tug. Meanwhile, Will's friend Horace is having a hard time at battleschool despite being one of the better apprentices. The training is very harsh and he is often picked on by older students. When Will and the rest of his friends get together during a local holiday, Will and Horace get in a fight, making them hate each other more. But after saving each other from a boar they start liking each other again. I think this is a really good book, I would recommend it to people looking for a good book to read
