The next time you are thinking of throwing in the towel because something is too difficult, take a moment to think about Sintayehu Tishale, who has not let the fact that he has no arms prevent him from doing something most people would deem impossible - Build furniture.

The 42-year old craftsman who lives in Addis Abba, Ethiopia, lost his arms at a young age when he was afflicted with polio - A viral nerve disease that can lead to paralysis. The young boy learnt to do adapt at a very early age, using his legs as his 'hands' for everything, ranging from working in the garden, to fixing small things and even, sharpening knives!

Unfortunately for him, his parents didn't really spot his talent and decided that the only way he could make a living, was by begging. Not knowing any better, he took up that lifestyle for a few years. But, he was constantly traveling to neighboring countries in an attempt to seek something better do to.

Then, about 20 years ago, he met his wife, who encouraged him to change his life around. Sintayehu not only taught himself to read and write, but also, worked on developing his rudimentary wood-working skills.

Today, he has become so integrated with his community that nobody even notices his handicap. What they do notice though is his incredible carpentry. The amazing man however dismisses his perseverance with a shrug, saying that while it may surprise other people, to him it's just second nature. His only regret is that his handicap prevents him from building larger pieces of furniture.

While Sintayehu's story would be considered incredible in any part of the world, it is even more so, in a third-world country like Ethiopia, where most able-bodied people do not get half the opportunities we take for granted in the Western world - Just shows that where there is a will, there is a way! So, stop whining and get on with it!
