This Fall, DreamWorks Pictures and director Steven Spielberg willl start the production of the first of three movies based on Belgium's swashbuckling comic book hero Tintin. While relatively unknown in North America, the comic book series which has sold over 200 million copies worldwide and been translated into 50 different languages, continues to be popular in Europe, 70 years after they were first published.

The Adventures of Tintin tell the story of the young reporter who works for a Belgian Newspaper and his fox terrier, Snowy. TIntin's reporting takes him all over the world and beyond - and inevitably turns into a mystery of some sort, which he always manages to solve.

While Tintin doesn't have the magical powers of Harry Potter, the adventures are always action-packed and full of nail-biting suspense. Also the movies are going to be released in 3-D, which should make them even more exciting.

Tintin is often accompanied on his adventures by his best friend Captain Haddock, a real seafaring Captain. There are also a number of other great characters that appear regularly, including Professor Cuthbert Calculas - an absent-minded Professor, Thompson & Thompson - two bumbling detectives and Bianca Castafiore - an opera singer.

While there is still no word on which of Tintin's 24 adventures will be used for the three movies, the starring role of Tintin will be played by 17-year old British Actor Thomas Sangster. Sangster's recent movies include "Nanny Mcphee" and "Love Actually".

Below is a clip of part one of one of Tintin's adventures, which was converted into an animated TV series. If you wish to watch the 2nd part, be sure to tell us in the contribution section below

I remember in my school my art teacher made gave us a small paper with a Tintin comic strip on it, and we had to resize it and color it on a larger paper. I personally have never heard of it until that project, but this is pretty interesting.

Harry potter will not and shall not move over. I have never heard of Tintin, and so I guess this movie did not do that well.
