Imagine a vault so cavernous that it contained all of the world's greatest treasures and relics, from mummified remains of ancient monarchs to glistening swords brandished by legendary warriors. Who could be in charge of such a vault? How would he have come into possession of such a unique collection?

Who is this Professor Brownstone?

Follow the Professor and the epic journeys of his ancestor as we trace the origins of the very first piece in his collection, the Urn of Uruk. Illustrator Joe Todd Stanton's bright illustrations and detailed cross sections will take you on a quest both across and within the ancient, mythical world, from Norway to Ancient Mesopotamia, where you can take a look inside the fabled hall of Valhalla, slice through the ancient pyramids of Giza, and look under the surface of the teeming, enchanted Mediterranean of Odysseus. . . .

Joe Todd Stanton grew up in Brighton and was taught to draw by his mother who is also an illustrator. He studied at Bristol University and got a first class degree in illustration. Stanton has been commissioned?to work for clients such as Computer Arts, Usborne Publishing, and Aquila magazine. He was also a contributor for Nobrow 9. He quotes Maurice Sendak and Tove Jansson amongst his influence for the beautifully surreal yet believable worlds they create.
